Escape (Black Tape and Red Hood) #2, gallery view, Arai Associates, Tokyo, 2015

When I Turn the Corner

What voices carry, I must shoulder.
There is a sound somewhere.
Someone’s footsteps, the sound of wind,
trees rubbing against each other,
a bird’s voice, footsteps on leaves.

The quiet voice of the atelier.
Wet wheels turning in the middle of the night.

All invisible—appearing and disappearing.
I cannot see, so I listen to the sounds.
I listen to the voices.

They speak to each other through delusion,
through fantasy, through form.
And then, finally, they become something else.
